Supramolecular Salts of Fe(II)/Co(II)/Ni(II)/Cu(II)/Zn(II) 1,10‐Phenanthroline Cations and Similar Complex Tartratostannate(IV) Anions: From Structural Features to Antimicrobial Activity and Enzyme Activation

Abstract In the present study authors establish the influence of complex cation on the structure formation, crystal packing, antimicrobial activity and enzyme activation of the previously described isostructural [M(phen) 3 ] 2 [Sn 2 (μ‐Tart) 2 (H 2 Tart) 2 ] complexes (M(II)=Fe( 1 ), Co( 2 ), Ni( 3 Читати далі

A comparative study of antagonistic activity spectra of lactic acid bacteria isolated from fermented foods

Abstract The present work aimed to assess the general antagonistic activity against opportunistic pathogens and to compare antagonistic action spectra of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains, isolated from Ukrainian traditional fermented foods. Overall, 161 profiles of the antagonistic activity spectrum were obtained from 1056 LAB strains. Among them, 114 profiles Читати далі

Nanocomposites Based on Cerium, Lanthanum, and Titanium Oxides Doped with Silver for Biomedical Application

Nanosized composites CeO2–Ag, La2O3–Ag, and TiO2–Ag are a class of nanomaterials suitable for photocatalysis, optical devices, and photoelectrochemical elements. Further, nanocomposites with several wt.% of silver can be used as creating materials for pathogenic virus inactivation with pandemic-neutralizing potential. Thus, CeO2–Ag, La2O3–Ag, and TiO2–Ag nanocomposites are prospective materials due to Читати далі

Virus deformation or destruction: size-dependence of antiviral and virucidal activities of gold nanoparticles

Abstract Over the last 10 years, the antiviral and antimicrobial activities of non-functionalised inorganic nanoparticles against different pathogens were experimentally shown. This effect has attracted the attention of scientists due to the COVID-19 pandemic; however, its mechanism is still unclear. For understanding the mechanism of nanoparticle’s action, it is important Читати далі

Molecular Research of Lipid Peroxidation and Antioxidant Enzyme Activity of Comamonas testosteroni Bacterial Cells under the Hexachlorobenzene Impact

The species of Comamonas testosteroni is the most common human pathogen of the genus, which can be associated with acute appendicitis, infections of the bloodstream, the peritoneal cavity, cerebrospinal fluid, inflammatory bowel disease, and in general, bacteremia. According to the literature, Comamonas testosteroni has destructive activity to a wide range Читати далі
